IHL Board Seeks Input Into UM Chancellor Search

Interested people invited to listening sessions with search committee

Jackson, Miss. – The Mississippi Board of Trustees of State
Institutions of Higher Learning’s search committee for the next
chancellor of the University of Mississippi plans to meet with various
UM constituency groups Feb. 17, beginning at 7:45 a.m.

The purpose of the meetings is to learn what qualities UM groups are
looking for in their next chancellor, so they can be included in the
job description for the position.


Board President Amy Whitten of Oxford is chairing the search committee.
Serving with her are trustees Stacy Davidson of Cleveland, Bob Owens of
Jackson, Aubrey Patterson of Tupelo, Alan Perry of Jackson, Christine
Pickering of Biloxi and Doug Rouse of Hattiesburg.

Most of the listening sessions take place in Ballroom Sections C and D
at The Inn at Ole Miss. Exceptions are noted below. All meetings are
open to the media.

Listening sessions for various groups (subject to change) follows:

* 7:45-8:45 a.m.: Vice chancellors and athletics director, breakfast session (McMillan Boardroom)
* 9-9:45 a.m.: Deans, associate vice chancellors and associate deans
* 9:45-10:30 a.m.: Alumni Association board members
* 10:30-11:15 a.m.: Assistant vice chancellors, assistant deans,
academic and non-academic department chairs, department heads and
directors
* 11:15 a.m.-noon: Faculty Senate
* 12:15-1:10 p.m.: Foundation board members, lunch session (Ballroom Section A)
* 1:15-1:45 p.m.: Staff Council and professional and support staff
* 1:45-2:30 p.m.: UM Medical Center faculty and staf
* 2:30-3:15 p.m.: General faculty
* 3:15-4 p.m.: UM alumni, community leaders and general public
* 4-4:30 p.m.: UMAA Foundation board members (McMillan Boardroom)
* 4:30-5 p.m.: Undergraduate and graduate student leaders and general student body
