OXFORD, Miss. – A memorial ceremony is scheduled Thursday (April 30), at the University of Mississippi to honor students, faculty, staff and faculty emeriti who have died during the 2008-09 school year.
The annual University Memorial Day program, traditionally held on the Thursday before the last day of classes of the spring semester, is set for 5:30 p.m. in Paris-Yates Chapel. Family members and friends of those being remembered are especially invited to attend.
“The purpose is to come together as a community to recognize those whom we’ve lost during the year,” said Sparky Reardon, dean of students.
Larry Ridgeway, vice chancellor for student affairs, will make opening remarks. A reception follows the program.
