Want to find out how our Ole Miss athletes did?

SPOILER ALERT: Results from Tuesday events in London.

Both of the Ole Miss track and field representatives advanced in their respective Olympic events Tuesday. UM rising senior Isiah Young advanced to Wednesday’s men’s 200-meter semifinals with a third place finish (20.55) in this morning’s first round heat while former Ole Miss long jump specialist Brittney Reese advanced to the final round.

Young lined up next to Usain Bolt, dubbed “The World’s Fastest Man,” who defended his Olympic title in the 100 meter event less than a day before. Other notable sprinters who advanced to tomorrow’s semifinals at 2:15 pm CT include Jamaicans Warren Weir and Yohan Blake as well as the Netherlands’ Churandy Martina and American runner Wallace Spearmon.
A two-time Olympian, Reese owns the longest jump in the world in 2012 and did not disappoint, qualifying for the finals with a jump of 6.57 meters (21.55 feet). The women’s long jump final will be held tomorrow at 2:05 pm CT when Reese looks to improve on her fifth place finish in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
