OXFORD, Miss. – OK, college students, did you forget to buy your meal plan? Do you have a question about financial aid? Have you not yet paid your registration fee? Well, while you may be a bit behind schedule, there’s no cause for concern.
The University of Mississippi offices of the Bursar and Financial Aid, as well as the ID Center and the Department of Parking & Transportation, will be open Saturday morning (Aug. 18) as a convenience for parents and students who need to finish up last-minute business. The Department of Student Housing will be open all day Saturday. With more than 5,000 students expected to participate in Move-in Week 2012, being open the Saturday of move-in has become a tradition for student service departments, said Dewey Knight, associate director of financial aid.
“It’s primarily available for parents who are helping their students to move in on Friday and perhaps don’t have time to drop everything to come to our offices and take care of business affairs,” Knight said. “We wanted to better serve students and parents so that they don’t have to wait until Monday to tie up loose ends.”
The bursar and financial aid offices, both on the second floor of the Martindale Student Services Center, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. The ID Center, across All-American Drive from Martindale in the former athletics building lobby, will be available for students and parents from 8 a.m. to noon. Parking & Transportation, located in Kinard Hall, will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. The Department of Student Housing, on the first floor of Lester Hall, also will maintain normal business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) Saturday.
