The University of Mississippi Department of Student Housing and the Office of the Dean of Students are marking the Presidential Inauguration and the Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday with several activities. The Department of Student Housing will host “watch parties” in the lobbies of the residence halls and will provide food beginning at on Monday at 11 a.m. UM faculty members are invited to attend. In conjunction with the Martin Luther King, Jr., “Day of Service,” the Office of the Dean of Students is coordinating with local officials and inviting students and student groups to participate at the Oxford Activity Center from 10 a.m. to 1 pm.
At 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Omega Psi Phi fraternity will sponsor a candlelight vigil walk beginning at Second Baptist Church. Following the walk, a Martin Luther King Jr. Day program will be held at Second Baptist Church. UM Professor Ethel Young Minor will be the featured speaker, and service awards will be presented.
