OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi hosts the
fourth annual “Ole Miss Idol” talent competition beginning
at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 3) in the Student Union’s
Southern Breeze room on the fourth floor.
UM’s version of the Fox hit show “American Idol” gives
students an opportunity to come together and showcase their
talents. The public is invited to attend all five rounds at
no charge, including the final event scheduled Nov. 2.
Planned as part of homecoming week this year, the first
session features contestants singing a two-minute a capella
version of their chosen song. Another preliminary session
is scheduled Oct. 10, with quarterfinals set for Oct. 17
and semifinals Oct. 24, all beginning at 7 p.m.
The final round is set for 9 p.m. Nov. 2 during the Student
Programming Board’s Rebel Nights, a late-night student
programming event. The winner will be awarded a $500
prize.
