OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi Student
Alumni Council is presenting the fifth annual installment
of “Bridging the Gap: Ole Miss’ Past and Present Working
Together for the Future,” a networking forum for UM
students.
The forum is set for 3-5 p.m. Friday (Oct. 19) in Nutt
Auditorium of Scruggs Hall.
The award-winning program includes a panel discussion in
the first hour followed by a reception, which offers
students one-on-one networking opportunities and quality,
in-depth discussions concerning career goals.
Attendance by Ole Miss alumni, friends and Oxford
professionals offers students a chance to make connections
within their chosen career fields. The focus of the forum
is not on “job seeking,” but rather “answer finding,”
allowing students to set benchmarks for success.
The panel includes successful Ole Miss alumni, such as
Edward G. Bryant, lawyer and former Tennessee congressman;
Dixie Carter, president of TNA Entertainment; Donnie
Kessinger, president of Kessinger Real Estate; Angela
McGlowan, president of Political Strategy and Insight;
Rivers Rutherford, a Nashville songwriter; and Larry
Sparks, UM vice chancellor for administration and finance.
“We have hundreds of students excited about networking with
successful Ole Miss alumni, friends and Oxford
professionals,” said SAC adviser Sheila Dossett, assistant
director of alumni affairs. “We hope you will join us for
this important event.”
Bridging the Gap won an award for Most Outstanding External
Program at this year’s Association of Student Advancement
Programs District III Conference.
