Ford Center Kicks Off Holiday with ?Sounds of the Season,’ Dec. 9

OXFORD, Miss. — Get in the holiday spirit Sunday, Dec. 9,
at the University of Mississippi when world-class singers
and a top symphony orchestra take the stage at the Gertrude
C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.



“Sounds of the Season” concert at 3 p.m. features
heartwarming musical favorites performed by inspirational
singer Mary Donnelly Haskell, soprano Laurie Gayle
Stephenson and baritone Steve Amerson, with the Tupelo
Symphony Orchestra. They are to be joined by the 160-member
combined choirs of Itawamba Community College and Northeast
Mississippi Community College.

Tickets for the live performance are $35, $32 and $29 for
various seating. They are available by calling the UM Box
Office at 662-915-7411 or visiting the box office in the
Student Union.

“Nothing can beat the effect that a symphony orchestra and
world-class vocalists can have on the soul,” said Norm
Easterbrook, Ford Center director. “Come celebrate the
season with family and friends at this joyful concert that
won’t soon be forgotten.”

Haskell said she’s looking forward to returning home and
performing with the Tupelo Symphony Orchestra and her “dear
friends.” Both Haskell and Stephenson are Ole Miss
alumnae.
