OXFORD, Miss. – From the grand stages of Lincoln
Center to the glitterama of Atlantic City, Lyn
Dillies has captivated audiences of all ages with
her spellbinding powers.

Hailed as one of the finest female magicians in the
land, as well as one of America’s top illusionists,
Dillies with her onstage assistant Marc LeBlanc
brings a first-class act to the University of
Mississippi Feb. 10.

“The Magic of Lyn” begins at 2 p.m. at the Gertrude C. Ford
Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $15 for general
admission and $7 for children under age 18. There is a
limit of three child tickets per each general admission
ticket. They are available at the UM Box Office in the
Student Union and the Ford Center Box Office. They can also
be ordered online at http://www.olemiss.edu/fordcenter/ or
by calling 662-915-7411.

Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director, said
Dillies performance is one of two family-friendly
programs slated for the spring season.

“We wanted to introduce family-friendly programming
this year to give families an affordable way to
experience the Ford Center together,” Easterbrook
said. “I couldn’t think of a better program for
this audience than Lyn Dillies, who has mesmerized
audiences – from two to 82 – throughout the United
States and Canada.”

The show is filled with eye-defying illusions, hypnotic
lighting, exciting music and the enchanting personality of
Dillies.

Dillies created magic history by being the only illusionist
before or since to make two live Asian elephants appear in
succession. This incredible feat was accomplished outdoors,
in front of an audience of her peers for the grand opening
of the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Mass. As a
result, her illusion has been included in the national
archives of the Society of American Magicians library.

Dillies’ 2007 DVD “Learn Magic with Lyn” has won accolades
as well, including a Dove Award and a Parent’s Choice
Award.

Since the elephant feat, rave reviews have followed
Dillies’ performances. David Munnell of Fredonia Opera
House Inc. described her illusions as “astounding.”

“Our audience was just knocked out! Everyone from the kids
to the grandparents raved about it for weeks afterwards,”
Munnell said.

Easterbrook expects a similar response after Dillies’
performance in Oxford.

“The audience will gasp in wonder, laugh heartily and clap
spontaneously,” he said. “One thing is sure, they will
never forget what will surely be an entertaining,
mystifying and dazzling experience at the Ford Center.”
