A Jackson man will get help from University of Mississippi Law School students in his appeal of a sentence of life without parole in the 2008 death of a home health nurse. A jury took less than an hour last July to convict Darrell Walker, 42, of accessory after the fact to murder. The maximum penalty for the charge is five years. But Walker was sentenced as a habitual offender because of prior convictions.
