OXFORD, Miss. – Miss University 2008, Mary Brandon Norman
of Sumrall, organized this year’s March of Dimes Walk at
the University of Mississippi scheduled for Saturday (April
19). This is the first year for Miss University to be
involved in the walk.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of such a
great organization,” Norman said. “It’s an honor to get to
plan and coordinate this project in conjunction with the
March of Dimes. I know the amazing things the university
community is capable of doing, and we are looking forward
to having their support.”
Participants join in the March of Dimes mission, which is
to work together to give all babies a fighting chance
against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth
defects and low birth weight.
“I am so proud of the work that Mary Brandon has done in
terms of getting the student organizations on the Ole Miss
campus involved in the March of Dimes walk,” said Jennifer
Taylor, director of Campus Programming and local director
of the Miss University pageant. “She has dedicated
countless hours to ensure that the walk is a success.”
Registration and check-in begin at 8:30 a.m. in front of
the Grove Stage. The walk starts at 9 a.m. To register
online or to make donations, visit
