OXFORD,
Miss. – Bonnie and Robert Van Ness, professors of finance at the
University of Mississippi, have been selected as managing editors for
The Financial Review.
“This is going to be something new and
unique within our careers,” Robert said. “My wife and I have published
over 50 journal articles, and this will give us the opportunity to deal
with the publication perspective from the other side.”
The
official journal of the Eastern Finance Association, Financial Review
is a general finance publication that encompasses all areas of finance
and features research from varied perspectives. The journal includes
empirical, theoretical and methodological research providing new
insights into issues of importance in financial economics. It is ranked
among the top 20 finance journals.
As managing editors, the Van Nesses will be taking on the task of reviewing submissions to the journal. The journal publishes around 30 articles and receives roughly 300 submissions annually.
“We will be making the final decision on which papers will be ultimately published by the journal,” Robert said.
“We are the ones charged with putting it together and sending it to the publisher,” Bonnie said.
The couple has been active in the Eastern Finance Association for the last six to eight years. A former editor of the Financial Review suggested that they submit a proposal for the editorship, and the husband-and-wife team jumped at the opportunity.
“We have been working together for so long that it just feels normal,” Robert said.
Both the Van Nesses are looking forward to beginning their work on the publication. They officially take over as managing editors on July 1.
