OXFORD, Miss. – The Broadway hit “A Year with Frog and Toad” comes to the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Mississippi at 3 p.m. April 12.
The Tony Award-winning children’s musical is part of the Ford Family Friendly Series introduced in fall 2007.
“‘A Year with Frog and Toad’ is ideal for the Ford Family Friendly performances,” said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director. “The musical is energetic and lively. Everyone will love this performance – children, teenagers and adults alike. We’re inviting everyone to come out to clap and cheer with frog and toad. The programming will not be successful without the participation of our audience.”
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $7 for children under age 18. There is a limit of three child tickets for each general admission ticket. Tickets are available by visiting the UM Box Office in the Student Union or Ford Center Box Office or online at

They are also available by calling 662-915-7411.
“A Year with Frog and Toad” was nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Musical in 2003. The all-new production based on the award-winning books by Arnold Lobel features his beloved characters hopping from the page to the stage in the musical written by brothers Robert and Willie Reale.
Conceived by Lobel’s daughter, Adrianne Lobel, the stage musical remains true to the spirit of the original stories as it follows two great friends, the cheerful and popular frog and the rather grumpy toad, through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the spring, frog and toad proceed to plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding, learning life lessons along the way, including a most important one about friendship and rejoicing in the attributes that make each of us different and special.
Family-friendly programming has been much needed in the Ford Center’s program schedule since it opened, Easterbrook said.
“We want to offer programs that are high in quality and affordable for the family audience, and I think that this year we have been successful in presenting age-appropriate performances,” he said.
