Clarion Ledger: University Preschools Provide Service

A number of Mississippi’s colleges and universities have on-campus preschools, sometimes known as “lab schools,” for children ages 3-5. Generally, the schools’ students, faculty and staff have enrollment priority. Most programs use a child-centered curriculum in which children learn by doing in a play environment. They are encouraged to be creative and to explore. Self-esteem and social skills also are developed.
