OXFORD, Miss. – If visions of sugarplums are already dancing in your head, then it must be time to draw up plans for a gingerbread house for the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts’ annual Gingerbread House Village.

Individuals, companies, community organizations, schools and others are invited to contribute an original creation for the entire community to enjoy. The rules are simple:

  • Reserve your space now by calling 662-915-2787.
  • Build your house on a base no larger than 2.5-feet square. Multiple houses are allowed on the base.
  • Install your house at the Ford Center between 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 9.
  • Submissions of basic kit houses are not allowed. When in doubt, add more frosting and candy.

Each contributor will be listed in Ford Center event programs for Verdi’s “Requiem” and “The Nutcracker.” Recognition will also be included in the Ford Center’s press releases, email blasts and social media posts regarding the event. Businesses may also display small brochures and coupons with their houses.

Applications for space are due Nov. 8. Contact Kate Meacham at 662-915-2787 or kmeacham@olemiss.edu.

The village will be open for public viewing Dec. 9-20. It is free to the public, though donations of nonperishable food items for local food banks are encouraged. For more information, visit http://www.FordCenter.org.
