OXFORD, Miss. – With one of the most appealing classical music stories of recent times, The 5 Browns , a quintet of classical pianists who happen to be brothers and sisters, have taken the world by storm.

On Friday (April 24), the siblings take the stage at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

The 8 p.m. concert is part of the university’s 101-year-old Artist Series. Tickets, priced at $20 and $28 for various seating, are available by calling 662-915-7411 or by visiting the UM Box Office in the Ole Miss Student Union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the Ford Center Box Office from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Discounts are available to UM retirees, faculty, staff and students before the day of the performance.

Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director, said many people believe that this is the type of performance for which the Ford Center was built.

“For anyone who loves live classical music, The 5 Browns promises a rare and treasured musical treat that must be experienced at the Ford Center,” Easterbrook said.

The 5 Browns – Desirae, Deondra, Gregory, Melody and Ryan – attended New York’s Juilliard School, marking the first time in the prestigious school’s history that it accepted five members of the same family.

Dubbed classical music’s first family of piano virtuosos, the quintet begin the season with their second tour of Japan followed by a nationwide U.S. tour in support of their latest CD “Browns In Blue” (Sony Classics).
