Franklin Covey Workshop Proves Helpful for MSBDC

OXFORD, Miss. – Members of the Mississippi Small Business
Development Center recently attended a Franklin Covey
Leadership Foundations workshop in Flowood.

MSBDC, headquartered at the University of Mississippi, took
advantage of the daylong Workshop for Emerging Leaders to
train existing employees to take on larger roles as they
grow with the organization, said Associate State Director
Mike Vanderlip.

“This workshop helps MSBDC to improve the quality of
leadership and provide future leaders for our organization.
Also, we will be able to provide even more services and
expertise to our clients,” he said.

This was the first such workshop MSBDC has participated in
through Franklin Covey, a national provider of
time-management training and assessment services for
organizations and individuals. The company is based in West
Valley City, Utah.

“We haven’t attended the leadership workshop before, but
Franklin Covey has come into the different MSBDC offices to
do other seminars and training sessions for us,” Vanderlip
said, adding that he is impressed with the “invaluable
information” the training offers.
