OXFORD, Miss. – Homecoming weekend is finally here!
Festivities for the fun-filled weekend began Thursday at the Student Union Plaza with RebelWell’s Food Day Festival and Farmer’s Market. About a dozen local vendors sold fresh veggies, homemade honey, salsa and jam and delightful desserts.

Yokna Bottoms Farm offered a variety of vegetables for sale at Food Day Festival and Farmer’s Market Thursday.
As an added bonus, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Chef Labron Alexander and registered dietician Brittany Simmons held a cooking demonstration to offer healthy tips to students.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Executive Chef Labron Alexander and registered dietician Brittany Simmons offered a healthy cooking demonstration for students on Thursday.
In just a short amount of time, the duo whipped up a ginger kale smoothie (which was actually very good), sweet potato hummus, microwaved corn on the cob (yes, you read that right) and oven-fried chicken. Samples and recipe cards were also offered.
What a way to kick off Homecoming, right?
But it’s just getting started! The events continue today with a Homecoming Parade at 5:30 p.m. and Square Jam at 6:30 p.m.
