OXFORD, Miss. – The husband-and-wife team of baritone
Bradley Robinson and soprano Jennifer Robinson present a
recital Monday (Feb. 25) at the University of Mississippi.
The two UM music faculty members perform at 8 p.m. in Nutt
Auditorium of Scruggs Hall. They are to be accompanied by
pianist Stacey Rodgers, professor of music. Tickets are $8
for adults and $5 for UM students and children. Call
662-915-7411.
“The program presents a wide variety of subjects and
musical styles,” said Bradley Robinson, associate professor
of music.
Their evening repertoire includes the humorous piece
“Dunque io son” from the “Barber of Seville,” Russian folk
songs and a collection of musical theater works that takes
the audience through the different stages of married life.
Solo selections include fiery Spanish songs, a collection
of French songs and the well-known “Soliloquy” from Rodgers
and Hammerstein’s “Carousel.” A dramatic highlight is
Jennifer Robinson’s performance of “A Letter from Sullivan
Ballou.”
“‘A Letter from Sullivan Ballou’ is a poignant musical
setting of the actual last letter sent by the Civil War
officer to his wife,” said Jennifer Robinson, adjunct
instructor of music.
Bradley Robinson has performed opera, oratorio and musical
theater throughout the U.S. with companies including the
Atlanta Civic Opera, Opera Memphis, Charlotte Opera, St.
Petersburg Opera, Opera Carolina and Chautauqua Opera. He
can be heard on Albany Records.
