Intern Blog: Time Flies When You’re Having Fun

While sitting here contemplating on what I want to write for this blog about my experience as an intern at Ole Miss Communications, I can’t help but reflect on the fact my time here is coming to an end. The cliché “time flies when you’re having fun” seems to fit.

I began this journey at the beginning of February and I had no idea how much I’d learn within a few short months.

I knew I’d get practical experience for the real world and sharpen my writing, but I never knew how much I would actually take away from this internship. Warm smiles of my new coworkers greeted me upon arriving. There was also the freedom to ask any questions that popped into my head. This gave me a great sense of relaxation about the job because I knew if there was anything I was curious about someone was willing to drop everything and answer my questions. The overall spirit in this office is so overwhelmingly inviting that my coworkers and I can’t help but have a positive attitude each day.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve learned many skills that will benefit me in the long run and plus I’ve gained a remarkable friend. My fellow intern, Anne McGraw, and I have had two classes together this semester plus we interned together. I couldn’t have asked for a better “partner in crime.” We have named ourselves the A-Team and we carry the name with pride. We’ve laughed together, stressed together, and kept each other in line and I couldn’t thank her more for the time we’ve had together.

I would highly suggest an internship with University Communications for anyone who is afforded the opportunity. I now have the ability to learn my strengths and weaknesses and how to be unapologetic about my curiosity when it comes to work. I couldn’t be anymore grateful for this internship to be the launching pad for my future career. I thank everyone at University Communications from the bottom of my heart for the best semester yet. I promise to make you all proud.
