OXFORD, Miss. – Area elementary and middle school students are urged to register now for the University of Mississippi Museum & Historic Houses summer science camps.
“During the camps, students will discover the world of science,” said Holly Bethune, curator of education at the museum. “Campers will participate in hands-on activities with university instructors from the fields of chemistry, biology, geology, physics and astronomy.”
Sessions for ages 8 and up will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Payment, which must accompany registration and be made in person, is $65 per student for Friends of the Museum members and $75 per student for nonmembers. All supplies and refreshments are provided.
“Pre-registration has already begun and class sizes are limited,” Bethune said.
Scheduled sessions include:
– June 29-July 3 for entering third- and fourth-graders (ages 8-9)
– July 6-10 for entering fifth- and sixth-graders (ages 10-11)
– July 27-31 for entering seventh- and eighth-graders (ages 12-13)
