OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi’s United Way Steering Committee is hosting its annual fundraising breakfast Friday (Dec. 2) on the main level of the Ole Miss Student Union.
All proceeds from the breakfast go to United Way of Lafayette-Oxford-University as part of the university’s campaign goal of $160,000. The event is set for 7-9:30 a.m., and admission is $5 in cash or check only.
The breakfast will feature pastries, eggs, sausage, coffee and an assortment of juices, all provided by Ole Miss Catering.
As part of the university’s campaign, all UM employees have received pledge cards, allowing them to pay gifts in full or in installments through payroll deduction. Other fundraising efforts include intradepartmental competitions, parking sales during home football games and student organization-led events.
United Way has set a community-wide goal of raising $450,000. Ninety-nine percent of the money raised for United Way stays in Lafayette County to help fund 16 or more local charities, including the Pantry, Interfaith Compassion Ministry, American Red Cross, Family Crisis Services, Meals on Wheels, Boys & Girls Clubs, Leap Frog, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America.
