Insurance Commissioner, are to speak at the event,

“What could be a better way to wrap up our professional
society’s first year than to provide a forum for the two
insurance commissioner candidates to express their views in
Jackson,” said Larry Cox, UM professor of finance and
holder of the Jack W. and Gwenette P. Robertson Chair of
Insurance. “Our alumni, friends and students are all
invited to hear the candidates speak.”

The purpose of the Risk Management and Insurance Society is
to improve the quality of insurance education and to serve
as a liaison between the university and the insurance
industry.

“We are excited that our first annual meeting also affords
us the opportunity to let our members and friends hear from
the two candidates for insurance commissioner, prior to the
most important election for that office in decades,” said
Thomas Y. Elfert, president of the society. “We’ll have an
opportunity to hear from both candidates and conduct a
brief business meeting over lunch.”
