OXFORD, Miss.- An 18-year-old freshman at the University of
Mississippi died Saturday after falling from a tree in the
backyard of a fraternity house where he was visiting
friends.
University Police said Bradley Jameson, of Ft. Worth, Tex.,
was retrieving a football when he fell approximately 12
feet and landed on a concrete patio. The accident occurred
at about 3:45 a.m. behind the Beta Theta Pi house. Jameson
was taken by helicopter to the Regional Medical Center in
Memphis where he was removed from life support at noon.
“While Brad was not a member of our fraternity, he was
close with several brothers. He was a great guy and we were
looking forward to recruiting him,” said chapter president
Scott Stewart. “This was a tragic accident. Our hearts are
broken and our prayers are with his family.”
Stewart said the chapter is receiving assistance from the
fraternitys national headquarters and a university support
team, and has cancelled all activities next week.
