Student Programming Board Sets Evening of Christmas Fun for Nov. 30

OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi Student Programming Board is sponsoring an evening of Christmas fun for the Oxford and Ole Miss communities from 7 to 11 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 30) in the Ole Miss Student Union.

Featuring treats and holiday activities for all ages, A Grand Ole Christmas is free and open to the public.

“We are excited to host our annual Christmas event again this year,” said Bradley Baker, coordinator of campus programming. “We hope that this event is entertaining for not only Ole Miss students but families in the community as well.”

For Ole Miss students, the event will feature free skating on an ice skating rink in the Student Union Food Court.

Papa John’s will provide free pizza throughout the evening, and free hot chocolate and sugar cookies will also be available. Attendees can have pictures made with Santa in the Food Court.

Beginning at 7 p.m., readings of several Christmas stories will take place in the Student Union lobby. Other activities include a visit by the Ole Miss ice hockey team for a meet-and-greet with fans at 8 p.m. The players will have team posters for autographs and merchandise available for purchase.

The Student Programming Board will also sponsor a Tacky Sweater Contest at 9 p.m. on the skating rink. Winners will receive a prize package from local Oxford businesses.

Throughout the evening, attendees can participate in “Make-Your-Own” Christmas cards and ornaments in the Student Union Lobby. Participants will be able to create their own card and then have the option of keeping the card or having it delivered by the Student Programming Board to residents at Graceland Care Center in Oxford.

Other sponsors for A Grand Ole Christmas include the Division of Student Affairs, Department of Campus Programming and Papa John’s Pizza.
