OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi hosts the
third annual Rebel Man Sprint Triathlon March 29.
The event, which begins at 8 a.m., is open to men, women
and children. The fee for Ole Miss students, faculty and
staff participants is $50 for individuals and $95 per team.
Registration fee for the general public is $60 for
individuals and $120 for teams.
Pre-registration is required by March 24, but closes when
250 participants have signed up. There is no on-site
registration. Packet pickup is 3-7 p.m. March 28 at the
Turner Center.
“The RMST is an example of a quality event administered by
university students, staff and faculty, partially funded by
the Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau and local
business sponsors, and time and manpower commitments from
the city of Oxford and Lafayette county,” said Kim Beason,
associate professor of parks and recreation management.
“The end result is a partnership that provides students
with an applied learning experience and the Lafayette,
Oxford, University community with exposure and an influx of
tourism dollars.”
The triathlon begins with a 400-meter swim at the Turner
Center pool. Following completion of the swim, participants
embark on the 21-kilometer bike leg of the triathlon and
end with a 5-kilometer run. Specific maps highlighting both
bike and running routes can be accessed at

Management. The UM Park and Recreation Management Majors
Association and the Department of Health, Exercise Science
and Recreation Management are the primary hosts for this
year’s event.
