Public Ceremony in Paris-Yates Chapel Nov. 11 Honors Veterans

OXFORD, Miss. – A public ceremony Tuesday (Nov. 11) at the University of Mississippi celebrates Veterans Day and honors those who have served in the country’s armed forces.

Chancellor Robert Khayat and Larry Ridgeway, vice chancellor for student affairs, are scheduled to speak during the 4 p.m. program in Paris-Yates Chapel. A reception is to follow in Martindale Hall.

Throughout its history, the university has been closely connected to the U.S. armed forces. For generations, Ole Miss students have answered the country’s call to military service in times of both peace and war.

“We hope to recognize the veterans in the community and give special recognition to students and faculty who are serving in the military presently,” said Sparky Reardon, dean of students. “The university has a long, honored tradition of being tied to the military, and we will take the day to recognize those who serve.”

Veterans are welcome to attend the ceremony in uniform.
