OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 The University of Mississippi<\/a> is looking to spark innovation and business growth among faculty, staff and students through a series of brief webinars about entrepreneurial resources available to them on campus and elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Presented by the university’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Spark Series includes free 45-minute webinars on entrepreneurial subjects ranging from forming a business to intellectual property.<\/p>\n

The first webinar is 3 p.m. Wednesday (March 24).<\/p>\n

Gregory Sechrist<\/p><\/div>\n

“The Spark Series provides an opportunity for university faculty, staff and students to learn more about the questions they should consider when exploring innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Gregory Sechrist, licensing associate with the UM Office of Technology Commercialization<\/a>, which is guiding the webinar series. “These short, informative webinars will point entrepreneurs to the resources that are available.”<\/p>\n

The focus of the first webinar is “The Basics of Business Formation and Operation” and features Cam Abel and Marie Cope, co-directors of the Transactional Law Clinic<\/a> at the UM School of Law<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Students in the clinic assist low-income entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations in the Mississippi Delta with business entity formation, contract drafting and more business development-related issues to foster economic development, increase access to capital and promote job growth.<\/p>\n

Abel and Cope will discuss what people should know before forming a business.<\/p>\n
