OXFORD,
\nMiss. – Prospective students interested in applying to the University
\nof Mississippi’s MBA program can learn more about it Wednesday (Feb. 4)
\nduring the School of Business Administration’s first-ever MBA Day.<\/p>\n
The
\nfree event, set for 1:30-6 p.m. in Conner Hall, Room 110, invites
\npotential applicants to meet with faculty members and current students,
\nhear a lecture by noted entrepreneur and lawyer Bill Luckett, and tour
\nthe business school’s facilities, said Bethany Cooper, director of
\ncorporate relations and MBA services. Luckett’s lecture, which is open
\nto the public, begins at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
“MBA Day is intended to give
\nprospective students the chance to explore our program from the ground
\nup,” said Charles Noble, director of MBA programs and associate
\nprofessor of marketing. “We are trying to create an environment where
\nprospective students can not only learn about our program but can ask
\nall the questions they need in order to be sure an MBA is really right
\nfor them.”

The MBA program, which offers students full-time and part-time options, is accepting applications for the summer semester. The deadline to apply is April 15.<\/p>\n

Following a program overview, participants meet in small groups with current MBA students for a question-and-answer session. This allows them to discuss workloads and courses and explore the curriculum from a student’s perspective, Cooper said.<\/p>\n
“I think, hopefully, they’ll understand the value of the MBA program here at Ole Miss and what makes our program unique,” she said.<\/p>\n
Luckett is a partner with actor Morgan Freeman in the Ground Zero Club in Clarksdale, as well as a lawyer and entrepreneur. His address is part of the school’s Distinguished Speaker Series, which brings about 100 guests lecturers to campus each year.<\/p>\n
“An integral part of the MBA program is that we have high-profile business, government and community leaders speak to our students, and Bill Luckett will do the same for this group of students,” said Ken Cyree, business school dean. “Mr. Luckett provides a glimpse into the type of great speakers that MBA students are privileged to hear throughout the semester.”<\/p>\n
