OXFORD,
\nMiss. – Nationally renowned Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble performs
\nFeb. 17 at the University of Mississippi’s Ford Center for the
\nPerforming Arts.<\/p>\n

The 8 p.m. program is part of the Dance Theatre
\nof Harlem’s 40th anniversary Dance for America National Tour. The
\nseven-week tour, which began in January, features a new DTH ensemble of
\n16 spirited dancers, ages 18-25.<\/p>\n

The event is part of the Ford
\nCenter’s acclaimed Artist Series. Tickets are $20 and $28 for various
\nseating and available by calling 662-915-7411 or by visiting the UM Box
\nOffice in the Ole Miss Student Union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the Ford
\nCenter Box Office from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n

The
\nensemble is sure to enchant and enthrall audiences with its
\nperformance, which features a combination of classic DTH repertoire and
\n“new specially created ballets,” said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center
\ndirector. The tour features a new kind of production for DTH, called
\nthe Interactive Performance. It involves the incorporation of live
\nmusic, educational and inspirational content, and audience interaction.<\/p>\n

The dancers hail from the United States and abroad, including Trinidad, Columbia, Brazil, Japan and Argentina.<\/p>\n

“We
\nare very excited about this opportunity for audiences to experience a
\npart of Dance Theatre of Harlem,” said Laveen Naidu, Executive Director
\nof Dance Theatre of Harlem. “The DTH Ensemble is the first step towards
\nbigger things to come, including the return of an international touring
\ncompany.”<\/p>\n

The next Artist Series event at the Ford Center is a March 3 performance of “Giselle” by the Russian National Ballet.<\/p>\n
