Charlie Miles, academic instructional technology consultant, has been named Staff Council’s Staff Member of the Month for January.<\/p>\n

To help us get to know him better, he answered some questions for Inside Ole Miss. <\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> How long have you worked at Ole Miss?<\/p>\n

Charlie Miles<\/p><\/div>\n

Miles:<\/strong> I began working at Ole Miss in 2007 in the music department but came to IT in 2018.<\/p>\n

IOM: <\/strong>What is your hometown?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>Grenada <\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> Talk about your favorite Ole Miss memory? <\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>When I was still in high school, I was invited by the UM Band to come visit. Once I saw the band’s Grove routine and the fans going crazy \u2026 I was sold. Game day and that Grove routine is a special level of, “You gotta see this.”<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What do you enjoy most about your position or the department in which you work?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>The fantastic folks I work with. Top to bottom, these folks are absolutely the best of the best.<\/p>\n

IOM: <\/strong>What do you like to do when you are not at work?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>I’m always working on some kind of audio\/video editing project. But I also like restoring old hand tools. I have some from my great-grandfather that are rusted and not really usable. I like bringing them back to life.<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What is one thing on your bucket list?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>Visit the Rocky Mountains<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What is your favorite movie?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>“<\/span><\/strong>Avengers Endgame”<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What is your favorite Ole Miss tradition?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>Hotty Toddy, of course, is the obvious answer. Being a band guy in my former life, the Grove routine is hard to top.<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What is a fun fact about you?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>I almost got left in downtown New York City in high school because of a scheduling goof. Older fellow showed me how to jaywalk and all turned out fine.<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> If you could have lunch with anyone alive or dead\/fictional or real, who would it be and why?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>It would have to be Winston Churchill. Back during WWII, it was beyond comprehension the amount of stress he was under. Gen. MacArthur and Patton would also be on that list.<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> What are three words you would use to describe yourself?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>Thankful, dedicated, flexible; my job is constantly changing, so flexibility is the name of the game<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> If you could visit one time or place in world history \u2013 past, present, or future \u2013 what would it be?<\/p>\n

Miles: <\/strong>Watching the Eiffel Tower being constructed<\/p>\n

IOM:<\/strong> If I could be an animal for a day, I would be a _______.<\/p>\n

Miles: Cheetah<\/p>\n
