OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 From taking temperature to giving injections, Miele Hudspeth makes being treated at the V.B. Harrison Health Center a pleasant experience.<\/p>\n

With a winning smile and even more winsome manner, the nurse practitioner has been assisting health center staff physicians in providing uncommon care to Ole Miss students. Her secret? Hudspeth loves what she’s doing.<\/p>\n

“I enjoy connecting with students that are away from home, many for the first time,” Hudspeth said. “Whether it is a freshman or an international student, there is often a level of anxiety when seeking health care, and it has been a joy to bridge that gap.<\/p>\n

“It has been rewarding to help many students find local resources in a town unfamiliar to them.”<\/p>\n

A Vicksburg native, Hudspeth received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing<\/a> from the University of Mississippi Medical Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After becoming a nurse practitioner in 2016, she came to work in the health center during the height of the pandemic. At a time when many were anxious about contracting COVID-19, she managed to calm fears and relax anxieties.<\/p>\n

“Miele has been an excellent addition to our care team,” said Alex Langhart, director of University Health Services<\/a>. “She cares so deeply about her patients, and it shows, as many have requested to see her specifically when they come back for care.<\/p>\n

“Her personality also keeps us laughing and in good spirits.”<\/p>\n

All in a day’s work, Hudspeth said.<\/p>\n

“Developing a trusting relationship with a health care provider is important to ensure continuity of care,” she said. “That’s what I hope to provide to my patients.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
