{"id":11518,"date":"2011-11-19T08:00:20","date_gmt":"2011-11-19T14:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/zing.olemiss.edu\/?p=11518"},"modified":"2014-09-23T08:33:32","modified_gmt":"2014-09-23T13:33:32","slug":"national-pharmacy-leadership-societys-officers-are-um-pharmacy-school-alumni","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web20.olemiss.edu\/news\/wordpress\/national-pharmacy-leadership-societys-officers-are-um-pharmacy-school-alumni\/","title":{"rendered":"National Pharmacy Leadership Society\u2019s Officers Are UM Pharmacy School Alumni"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 The Department of Pharmacy Administration in the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy reached a milestone recently, when the pharmacy leadership society, Phi Lambda Sigma, installed new officers for its executive committee.<\/p>\n<p>Four of the officers, who were installed at the end of the society\u2019s 36th annual House of Delegates meeting in Seattle, have ties to Ole Miss, and three of them are pharmacy administration graduates.<!--more-->The department has a great tradition of producing professionals who are committed to advancing the practice of pharmacy by assuming leadership roles within national organizations, said Donna West Strum, chair and associate professor of pharmacy administration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are proud of these alumni for generously giving of their time and talents to fostering leadership in pharmacy students across the country,&#8221; West Strum said.<\/p>\n<p>The new officers include:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; President: Joseph K. Bonnarens, associate professor of pharmacy administration at Pacific University\u2019s School of Pharmacy in Hillsboro, Ore. He earned his master&#8217;s degree in pharmaceutical sciences in 2000 and his doctorate in pharmacy administration in 2003.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; President-Elect: Tina Penick Brock, associate dean for teaching and learning at the University of California at San Francisco\u2019s School of Pharmacy. She earned her bachelor&#8217;s degree in pharmaceutical sciences in 1990 and her master&#8217;s degree in pharmacy administration in 1992.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Treasurer: Alan Spies, director of professional development and associate professor at the University of Oklahoma\u2019s College of Pharmacy. He earned his doctorate in pharmacy administration in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Parliamentarian: Jillian Foster, director of pharmacy at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford and president-elect of the Ole Miss Pharmacy Alumni Chapter.
