\nOXFORD,
\nMiss. – The University of Mississippi Concert Singers, under the
\ndirection of guest conductor Dennis Shrock, presents a performance of
\n“Messiah” Monday (April 6) at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the
\nPerforming Arts.<\/p>\n

The 8 p.m. concert is part of the university’s Artist Series, in its 71st season.<\/p>\n

“Messiah”
\nis one of the most well-known and adored choral works and is performed
\nfrequently throughout the world, said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center
\ndirector.<\/p>\n

Shrock, professor emeritus of music at the University
\nof Oklahoma, is an acclaimed choral scholar, author and lecturer. The
\nConcert Singers comprises Ole Miss students from a variety of academic
\ndisciplines.<\/p>\n

Concert tickets, priced at $20 to $28 for various
\nseating, are available by calling 662-915-7411 or by visiting the UM
\nBox Office in the Ole Miss Student Union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or the
\nFord Center Box Office from noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n

The
\nConcert Singers choir has performed at national and regional
\nconventions. Over the years, the group has toured Europe and Mexico,
\nand competed in choral events in England, France and Bulgaria.<\/p>\n

Shrock
\ndirected choral activities and was head of the graduate choral program
\nat Oklahoma. His extensive conducting career includes performances with
\nthe New York Philharmonic, Santa Fe Desert Chorale and Canterbury
\nChoral Society in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n
