The university is preparing to demolish Kincannon Hall, once the largest residence hall on campus, to make way for three new residence halls. The demolition of Kincannon Hall is underway and will continue over the next month and into the fall semester as the building is torn down and the debris removed from campus. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Demolition and debris removal will actively take place between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until early September, with exceptions for home football games. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Beginning late August, dump trucks carrying debris will travel across campus to offload the debris at an off-campus site. Those trucks will travel 40-50 times a day back and forth on Rebel Drive, Jackson Avenue and Gertrude Ford Boulevard. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The University of Mississippi Police Department is urging drivers and pedestrians to use caution when traveling near the construction site. For pedestrians, UPD recommend crossing streets only at crosswalks to remain aware of your surroundings while debris removal is underway. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Signage will be stationed on Rebel Drive to discourage jaywalking and direct pedestrians to the crosswalks.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
