Michael A. Repka<\/p><\/div>\n

Michael A. Repka, chair of pharmaceutics at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, is the new vice chair of the Formulation Design and Development Section of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists.<\/p>\n

Repka was elected vice-chair in October during AAPS\u2019s annual meeting in Washington, D.C. His election \u2013 a precursor to terms as chair-elect, chair and past-chair \u2013 represents a four-year commitment.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor and a privilege to be elected vice-chair of this section,\u201d Repka said. \u201cI am humbled to represent such a significant number of AAPS members. I look forward to serving this group during the next four years.\u201d<\/p>\n

With 4,200 members, the FDD section is AAPS\u2019s largest section and enables its members to share experimental results, consider new formulation and dosage form technologies, and discuss issues and concerns regarding the design and development of formulations and drug products.<\/p>\n

With Repka\u2019s election, the School of Pharmacy holds leadership positions in the most visible professional pharmacy associations in the country. Brian Crabtree, professor of pharmacy practice, is president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and Walt Chambliss, professor of pharmaceutics, serves on the board of trustees of the American Pharmacists Association and is president of the APhA-Academy of Research and Science.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are delighted that Dr. Repka has been elected to serve as FDD vice-chair for AAPS,\u201d said David D. Allen, UM pharmacy dean. \u201cService is pivotal to our mission at the Ole Miss School of Pharmacy, and our students, faculty and staff continually seek opportunities to give back. We look forward to Mike\u2019s leadership in this role.\u201d<\/p>\n

AAPS is a professional, scientific association of approximately 12,000 members employed in industry, academia, government and other research institutes worldwide. Founded in 1986, AAPS provides an international forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists to enhance their contributions to public health. AAPS offers scientific programs, ongoing education, information resources, opportunities for networking and professional development.<\/p>\n
