Last week, Newsweek ranked the university “Most Beautiful” for
\nits campus and student body. And now, Tailgater Monthly magazine has put
\n Ole Miss at No. 1 on its list of the Top 20 college tailgating sites.
\nThe listing is the cover story for the publication’s
\n September issue, which comes out Thursday (Sept. 8).<\/p>\n

“Tailgating on the Grove is the South all wrapped up with a
\nbowtie in Oxford, Mississippi,” the article says. The two-page spread
\nincludes several photos of tailgating in the Grove and mentions gameday
\nfashion and food.<\/p>\n

The magazine staff spent “countless days and weeks of research”
\n while developing the listing, said Beth Anthony, the magazine’s
\nmanaging editor. The research included interviews with many avid
\ntailgaters, including fans of opposing teams who have tailgated
\n at opponents’ campuses.<\/p>\n

“That’s important because I’m sure most Ole Miss fans think
\ntheir campus has the best tailgating,” Anthony said. “But when the
\nopposing fans come in and say the tailgating in the Grove is really
\ngreat, that carries a whole lot of weight.”<\/p>\n

Tailgater Monthly, which celebrates its fifth birthday with the
\n upcoming October issue, features food, equipment and tips for “anything
\n that can be a tailgate,” Anthony said. Previous issues have featured
\npeople tailgating at concerts, baseball games
\n and at NASCAR events. The magazine also includes articles about camping
\n gear because many tailgaters camp for days at the venues they visit.<\/p>\n

Tailgater Monthly is available only by print subscription or
\nonline, but copies of the September issue are on sale at the Ole Miss
