Hilliard of Memphis<br \/>\nand William W. Parsons Jr. of Merritt Island, Fla. David E. Brevard of<br \/>\nTupelo will receive the Alumni Service Award for service to the<br \/>\nuniversity and the Alumni Association. Tamara Yvette Crawford of<br \/>\nArlington, Texas, will receive the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Alumni Association is hosting a public reception for the honorees<br \/>\nat 6 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Gertrude C. Ford Ballroom at The Inn at Ole<br \/>\nMiss. A dinner for the recipients follows the reception and tickets<br \/>\nwith advanced registration by Oct. 2 are required. Tickets are $50 per<br \/>\nperson or $375 for a table of eight. Call 662-915-7375.<br \/>\nThe honorees will be introduced Oct. 17 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium<br \/>\nbefore the Homecoming game kickoff with the University of<br \/>\nAlabama-Birmingham. A former Ole<br \/>\nMiss football player, coach and athletics director, Alford earned three<br \/>\nletters as a guard on Rebel football teams in 1958-60. He was<br \/>\nco-captain of the 1960 undefeated national champion team and went on to<br \/>\nserve as UM athletics director from 1978 to 1994. He helped expand<br \/>\nathletics opportunities for both men and women, increasing the school&#8217;s<br \/>\nvarsity sports from eight to 15.<\/p>\n<p>\nFrom 1994 to 1999, he worked as a vice president for Mississippi<br \/>\nDiversified Corp., which provides insurance and related products to<br \/>\nmore than 300 auto dealers. In 1999 he was named athletics director for<br \/>\nthe University of Louisiana-Monroe and served in that position until he<br \/>\nwas named vice president and national sales manager of Assurant Group&#8217;s<br \/>\nIndirect Auto in 2001. He returned to Ole Miss as executive assistant<br \/>\nfor development for the UM Foundation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nA McComb native, Alford holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from<br \/>\nUM. He is married to the former Kay Swayze of Oxford, and they have<br \/>\nthree children, Thomas Swayze Alford, John Warner Alford III and<br \/>\nPhyllis Alford Daniels, and six grandchildren.\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid #000000; margin: 5px; padding: 4px; width: 142px; float: right; background-color: #ffffff\" class=\"jce?caption\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ezing.me\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/stories\/kayo-dottley.jpg\" alt=\"kayo-dottley.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0pt; float: left; width: 142px; height: 200px\" title=\"kayo-dottley.jpg\" width=\"142\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 3px; color: #000000; text-align: center; clear: both\" class=\"jce?caption?text\">\nKayo Dottley\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Dottley was born in Birmingham, Ala., and reared in McGehee, Ark. He<br \/>\nearned both bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s degrees in administrative education<br \/>\nfrom UM. He was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Sigma<br \/>\nfraternity, was elected Colonel Rebel, selected to the student Hall of<br \/>\nFame and earned numerous awards in football, including All-American<br \/>\nhonors in 1945 and &#8217;46.<\/p>\n<p>\nAfter graduation, Dottley was drafted by the Chicago Bears and played<br \/>\nfullback until a car accident ended his career. He was Rookie of the<br \/>\nYear and was the first rookie back in NFL history named to play in the<br \/>\nPro Bowl. He left Chicago for Vicksburg, where he was owner of a Jitney<br \/>\nJungle Super Market. He also worked with his father to found Dottley&#8217;s<br \/>\nSpice, which he serves as board president.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHe is married to the former Nina Nosser. They have three daughters,<br \/>\nNina Rocconi, Debbie Brumitt and Dani Kay Thomas, and two sons, John<br \/>\nAlbert Dottley Jr., (deceased) and Billy Joe Dottley. They have nine<br \/>\ngrandchildren and four great grandchildren.\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid #000000; margin: 5px; padding: 4px; width: 152px; float: left; background-color: #ffffff\" class=\"jce?caption\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ezing.me\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/stories\/george-hilliard.jpg\" alt=\"george-hilliard.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0pt; float: left; width: 152px; height: 200px\" title=\"george-hilliard.jpg\" width=\"152\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 3px; color: #000000; text-align: center; clear: both\" class=\"jce?caption?text\">\nGeorge Hilliard\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Hilliard is president and partner in the Memphis independent<br \/>\ninsurance agency Pete Mitchell and Associates Inc. As managing partner,<br \/>\nhe is responsible for the agency&#8217;s service standards, business<br \/>\npractices and profitability. A Hernando native, he is a member of the<br \/>\nnational, state and local associations for Professional Insurance<br \/>\nAgents. The Tennessee association recognized him as its 2008 Agent of<br \/>\nthe Year.<\/p>\n<p>\nHilliard serves as a member of the board of directors for the Memphis<br \/>\nChamber Foundation and the Ole Miss Alumni Association. He has received<br \/>\nnumerous personal awards and honors including the Memphis Silver Star<br \/>\nNew Achievers&#8217; Award; Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. African American<br \/>\nMale Image Award; Black Business Association of Memphis Special<br \/>\nRecognition for Outstanding Board Service; and Phi Beta Sigma<br \/>\nFraternity Inc. Southwestern Regional Bigger and Better Businessman<br \/>\nAward.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile at Ole Miss, he was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.<br \/>\nHilliard and his wife, Malinda, have three daughters, Sabrina, Melodia<br \/>\nand Brittany.\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid #000000; margin: 5px; padding: 4px; width: 134px; float: right; background-color: #ffffff\" class=\"jce?caption\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ezing.me\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/stories\/bill-parsons.jpg\" alt=\"bill-parsons.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0pt; float: left; width: 134px; height: 200px\" title=\"bill-parsons.jpg\" width=\"134\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 3px; color: #000000; text-align: center; clear: both\" class=\"jce?caption?text\">\nBill Parsons\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Parsons joined Lockheed Martin Mission Services in October<br \/>\n2008 as vice president of Strategic Space Initiatives. He is<br \/>\nresponsible for helping to formulate Mission Services&#8217; strategy as it<br \/>\nrelates to Civil and Defense Space Programs and assists other business<br \/>\nunits as requested. Before joining Lockheed Martin, Parsons served as<br \/>\ndirector of NASA&#8217;s John F. Kennedy Space Center.<\/p>\n<p>\nParsons joined the NASA team in 1990 at Kennedy Space Center in the<br \/>\nShuttle Operations Directorate. He has served as director of the Center<br \/>\nOperations and Support Directorate of NASA&#8217;s Lyndon B. Johnson Space<br \/>\nCenter in Houston and has twice served as director of the John C.<br \/>\nStennis Space Center. In 2003, he was appointed space shuttle program<br \/>\nmanager to lead the Return to Flight activities for the agency and<br \/>\nplayed a key role in the success of the Discovery STS-114 mission.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nHe earned a bachelor&#8217;s degree in engineering from UM and a master&#8217;s in<br \/>\nengineering management from the University of Central Florida. He<br \/>\nreceived the Engineer of Distinction Award from UM and the Alumni of<br \/>\nthe Year award from the University of Central Florida. He serves on the board of directors of<br \/>\nthe Ole Miss Alumni Association, University of Mississippi Foundation,<br \/>\nMississippi Methodist Senior Services Inc., Community Development<br \/>\nFoundation, Yocona Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Journal<br \/>\nInc., B&#038;B Concrete Co. Inc. and Concrete Industries Inc.<\/p>\n<p>\nBrevard is a past president of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, former<br \/>\nchairman of the board of directors of Mississippi Methodist Senior<br \/>\nServices Inc. and the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi. He<br \/>\nhas received numerous awards, including the Yocona Area Council&#8217;s<br \/>\nSilver Beaver Award for Distinguished Service to Youth, Rotary<br \/>\nInternational Foundation&#8217;s Paul Harris Fellow Award, Parent of the Year<br \/>\nAward for Church Street Elementary School and Mississippi Business<br \/>\nJournal&#8217;s Top 40 Under 40 Leadership Award.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nBrevard is a 1978 summa cum laude graduate of Ole Miss, earning a<br \/>\nBachelor of Arts degree. He earned an MBA from the University of<br \/>\nVirginia in 1981. He is married to the former Shawn R. Stewart, and<br \/>\nthey have two daughters, Stewart and Lizzie.\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"border: 1px solid #000000; margin: 5px; padding: 4px; width: 143px; float: right; background-color: #ffffff\" class=\"jce?caption\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ezing.me\/transfer\/wp-content\/uploads\/stories\/tamara-crawford.jpg\" alt=\"tamara-crawford.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0pt; float: left; width: 143px; height: 200px\" title=\"tamara-crawford.jpg\" width=\"143\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 3px; color: #000000; text-align: center; clear: both\" class=\"jce?caption?text\">\nTamara Crawford\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8211; Crawford, 31, is a senior aeronautical engineer for Lockheed Martin<br \/>\nAeronautics Co., an aerospace defense company headquartered in Fort<br \/>\nWorth, Texas. Working in the area of mass properties, she utilizes<br \/>\nfundamentals of systems engineering processes to accomplish production<br \/>\nand modernization tasks on the F-22 Raptor fighter aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>\nShe began her career at Lockheed Martin in 2003 as a systems engineer<br \/>\nand was selected as one of three young engineers from the company to<br \/>\nparticipate in the inaugural cross-training initiative for mass<br \/>\nproperties. Earlier this year, Crawford was nominated for a Women of<br \/>\nColor in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics Award in<br \/>\nCommunity Service, a national award that recognizes women of color<br \/>\nbased on leadership, innovation and outstanding work in the STEM<br \/>\nfields. She received the 2009 Women of Color Technology Rising Star<br \/>\nAward, which recognizes advancement in shaping technology for the<br \/>\nfuture and demonstrating excellence in the workplace and community.\n<\/p>\n<p>\nCrawford is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and was<br \/>\ninitiated into the Theta Psi Chapter at UM. After earning her<br \/>\nbachelor&#8217;s degree in mechanical engineering from UM, she received a<br \/>\nmaster&#8217;s degree in systems engineering from Southern Methodist<br \/>\nUniversity. She is a leader of the Ashanti Community, which is a rites<br \/>\nof passage program for girls ages 8 to 18.
