\nBrad Dye\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nThe Brad Dye Public Service Scholarship Program will provide financial
\nsupport enabling students to engage in service-learning opportunities
\nand public service internships in government or private agencies,
\ndomestically or abroad. Duncan-Williams Inc., an investment banking
\nfirm in Memphis, has committed the first contribution toward the
\nscholarship endowment.\n<\/p>\n
\n“The scholarship is to be given in
\nBrad Dye’s name to honor his career in public service to his community,
\nstate and nation,” said Richard Forgette, chair and professor of
\npolitical science. “A UM graduate, Mr. Dye served as lieutenant
\ngovernor of Mississippi for three terms. He is the only person in state
\nhistory to hold that position for 12 consecutive years.”\n<\/p>\n
\nDye is a life member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and a member of the UM Foundation.\n<\/p>\n
\nDuncan-Williams has established itself as a leader in public service for the Mid-South and beyond.\n<\/p>\n
\n“Our leadership team and associates are actively involved in the issues
\nthat matter, because these are our communities,” said Gary Lendermon,
\nvice president of marketing and communications. “The team at
\nDuncan-Williams believes in active leadership, participation and
\nfinancial support of the causes and organizations that impact our
\ncities and our profession.”\n<\/p>\n
\nThe Dye Scholarship Program was announced at a recent reception
\nattended by some of Mississippi’s current and former top public
\nservants, including Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant, U.S. Sens. Thad Cochran and
\nRoger Wicker and former U.S. Sen. Trent Lott.\n<\/p>\n
\n“A state moves forward when it has progressive, thoughtful leaders at
\nthe helm,” said liberal arts Dean Glenn Hopkins. “Those leaders for
\nMississippi have, more often than not, received much of their education
\nat the University of Mississippi and, in particular, from the
\nDepartment of Political Science.”\n<\/p>\n
