OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Jeff Shaara, New York Times bestselling author of
\n\u201cGods and Generals,\u201d will sign copies of his latest book \u201cNo Less Than
\nVictory\u201d Wednesday (Nov. 4) at the University of Mississippi.

\nShaara is also slated to speak during the free, public event from 11:30
\na.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Refreshments will be
\navailable. \n<\/p>\n
\nThe
\nauthor will discuss the research he undertook in writing the novel, which
\nis the third in a trilogy about World War II. The event is sponsored by
\nthe UM Department of History and the campus chapter of Phi Alpha Theta,
\ninternational honor society for history.\n<\/p>\n
\nShaara, son of noted author Michael Shaara, has been called a \u201cmaster of
\nthe war novel,\u201d having written about the Revolutionary War (\u201cRise To
\nRebellion,\u201d \u201cThe Glorious Cause\u201d), the Civil War (\u201cGods and Generals,\u201d \u201cThe Last Full Measure\u201d) and World War I (\u201cTo The Last Man\u201d). The
\nprevious two entries in his current World War II saga are \u201cThe Rising
\nTide\u201d and \u201cThe Steel Wave.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n\u201cOne
\namazing aspect of the research I have been doing is the amount of
\nmaterial offered to me by World War II veterans and their families,\u201d
\nShaara said. \u201cNearly all of this material is unpublished, and thus,
\nunknown. I have been generously gifted with some remarkable stories and
\nextraordinary experiences, many of which make up part of this story. I
\ndeeply appreciate those who have been willing to share these wonderful
\nresources.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
