\nadminister doses Wednesday, Thursday<\/span><\/p>\n

\nOXFORD,
\nMiss. – The University of Mississippi has received 1,000 doses of H1N1
\n(swine flu) vaccine and plans to administer the nasal spray Wednesday and
\nThursday (Nov. 18 and 19).\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nNasal
\nspray (live virus) is indicated for all healthy students 24 years old or
\nyounger. Also, if a healthy student, faculty or staff member is 49 years
\nold or younger but has a child in the household or is a caregiver for
\nchildren 6 months or younger, he or she should receive the vaccine.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe
\nvaccine will be administered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in the
\nJohnson Commons Ballroom.\n<\/p>\n

\nThose
\nwishing to receive the vaccine must present an Ole Miss ID card.\n<\/p>\n

\nThe
\nCenters for Disease Control and Prevention has determined which groups
\nreceive the vaccine first. UM’s Student Health Service will follow those
\nguidelines for administering the nasal spray to individuals with no
\nunderlying medical conditions.\n<\/p>\n

\nTarget
\ngroups include:
\n– Household contacts and caregivers of children 6 months old or younger
\n(caregivers must be 49 or younger)
\n– Health care workers under the age of 49
\n– Students 18 and under
\n– Young adults 24 or younger\n<\/p>\n

\nVaccination against H1N1 is recommended even if a person has been
\ndiagnosed with flu. Individuals who have taken FluMist for the seasonal
\nflu should wait four weeks before getting the H1N1 nasal vaccine.\n<\/p>\n

\nStudent
\nHealth has also ordered vaccine that can be administered by injection but
\nofficials don’t know when it will arrive.\n<\/p>\n
