OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 One of the world\u2019s most legendary country and bluegrass superstars of the past three decades, Vince Gill, is coming to the University of Mississippi for a Sept. 13 show at the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.<\/p>\n

Fans are in for a \u201cthrill when the Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist hits the Ford Center\u2019s main stage\u201d for the 8 p.m. show, said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director.<\/p>\n

Tickets, priced at $52 to $75 for various seating, go on sale to the public Aug. 6. But beginning Friday (July 19), Ole Miss alumni, Friends of the Ford Center and members of the Vince Gill Fan Club can order advance tickets. For all tickets, call 662-915-7411.<\/p>\n

A cocktail reception fundraiser to benefit Ford Center programs will precede the concert. Tickets are $500 per couple and $250 per individual and include orchestra-level tickets for the concert.<\/p>\n

Gill, who began his career as a vocalist for the country rock band Pure Prairie League, has recorded more than 20 studio albums and charted more than 40 singles. He has sold more than 22 million records and won 27 Grammy Awards, more than any other male country artist.<\/p>\n

The two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year is the only man to ever win five consecutive CMA Male Vocalist of the Year awards and the only songwriter to win Song of the Year four times. Those winning songs, \u201cWhen I Call your Name,\u201d \u201cLook at Us,\u201d \u201cI Still Believe in You\u201d and \u201cGo Rest High on that Mountain,\u201d were among the compositions that led to Gill\u2019s 2005 induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Two years later, he became one of the youngest performers ever inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n
