OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 University of Mississippi Athletics Director Ross Bjork will speak to the 3,400 members of the university’s brightest freshman class Thursday (Sept. 6) as part of the first Athletics Convocation.<\/p>\n

During their first year on campus, Ole Miss students take a course called Freshman Year Experience (EDHE 105), which helps them make a positive transition from high school to college, develop a better understanding of the learning process, enhance academic skills, acquire essential life skills and begin the exploration for a career and major.<\/p>\n

The curriculum for EDHE 105 focuses on the history, traditions and values of the university, as well as the academic and other support services available.<\/p>\n

“I’m thrilled to be speaking to our freshmen class as they take this big step in their lives,” Bjork said. “I look forward to visiting with them about their participation in athletics events and how it can enhance their time on campus.”<\/p>\n

This year’s freshman class boasts the highest average ACT scores (which include converted SAT scores) in school history. This year’s average score of 23.9 is 0.4 points higher than the fall 2011 average and 0.6 points higher than the average in fall 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
