OXFORD, Miss – The Lafayette-Oxford-University Symphony is set to perform works from a variety of cultures Wednesday (March 10) in the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

\nTickets for the 8 p.m. concert are $10 for general admission and $6 for students with a valid ID. They can be purchased at the UM Box Office in the Student Union or by calling 662-915-7411.
\nThe orchestra will open with the overture from the opera “The Force of Destiny” by Guiseppe Verdi and conclude with “El Amor Brujo,” a ballet by Manuel de Falla. Other pieces will feature arias and duets by faculty members Bradley and Jennifer Robinson.<\/p>\n

“We’re very excited to have Dr. and Mrs. Robinson sing,” said Ronald Vernon, associate dean of liberal arts and professor of music. “They’re impressive.”<\/p>\n

The diversity of the performances should keep the audience entertained, he said. “They’ll hear an interesting variety from many countries with many styles.”<\/p>\n
