OXFORD, Miss. \u2013\u00a0Known for putting contemporary Christian music on the map, six-time Grammy Award winner Amy Grant is set to perform Oct. 8 at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts.

\u201cWe have received many requests to present Amy Grant in the Ford Center and we are pleased to finally be able to bring her here,\u201d said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director.<\/p>\n

The show is set for 8 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $50 for various seating. Tickets are available by calling 662-915-7411, by visiting the UM Box Office in the Student Union from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays or the Ford Center Box Office at 10 a.m. on the day of the show, or by going to http:\/\/www.fordcenter.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grant’s performance will feature an acoustic setting with only four or five players.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou really couldn\u2019t find a better venue for (Grant) with this particular ensemble than the Ford Center,\u201d Easterbrook said. \u201cThe seating is so intimate, and the acoustics of the Main Hall will complement her performance in every positive way.\u201d<\/p>\n

With hits such as “Baby, Baby” and “Every Heartbeat,” Grant has achieved such breakthroughs as being the first contemporary Christian artist to have a platinum record, the first to hit No. 1 on the pop charts and the first to perform at the Grammy Awards. She has produced three multiplatinum albums, six other platinum albums and four more gold albums; scored 10 Top 40 pop singles and 17 Top 40 adult contemporary tracks as well as a string of contemporary Christian chart-toppers. She has won six Grammy Awards and numerous Dove Awards.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmy Grant is a particularly engaging performer and it will be a special treat for Ford Center regulars to see her in an intimate, acoustic setting,\u201d Easterbrook said.<\/p>\n
