OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Acclaimed pianist Paul Kenyon is scheduled to perform Tuesday (June 15) at the University of Mississippi.

Kenyon, chair of the music department at Point Loma Nazarene University, is set to perform as a guest artist for the Piano Discoveries Summer Camp at Ole Miss. The recital is at 7 p.m. in Nutt Auditorium. Admission is $12 for general admission and $8 for students.<\/p>\n
“Paul is a personal acquaintance of mine and someone who will work well with the campers,” said Ian Hominick, UM associate professor of music. “He is a very sensitive musician and has chosen a well-varied program of classical music to present: an arrangement of J.S. Bach’s ‘Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring,’ a sonata by Franz Josef Haydn, selections from Heitor Villa Lobos’ ‘Bachianas Brasileiras,’ and various selections by Frederic Chopin in honor of this year being the 200th anniversary of Chopin’s birth.”<\/p>\n
Born in upstate New York, Kenyon has been praised for his creative programming and effective communication. He earned a doctor of musical arts in piano performance from Michigan State University where he studied piano with Deborah Moriarty and Ralph Votapek.<\/p>\n
Kenyon’s principal teachers have included Jerome Rose and Angeline Schmid. For six summers, Kenyon has performed at the Colby Piano Institute in Waterville, Maine, where he coached with the internationally reowned pianist Anthony di Bonaventura.<\/p>\n
