What do poetry slams, library tours, music events and open mic nights have in common? They\u2019re all event ideas proposed by a new Library Ambassadors student group that aims to encourage interaction between the library and the student body.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The group, which met for the first time in September and currently has 33 members, has the goal of representing and promoting the library at campus events and raising awareness of the library\u2019s programs and services.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a group for students, by students, with a direct line to the faculty and administration and a chance to make the library a place for interesting and entertaining events,\u201d said Amy E. Mark, information literacy and instruction librarian. \u201cThe students have the chance to organize events, coordinate them and to really make the library their own.\u201d<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
While Mark and outreach librarian Melissa Dennis direct the group, the students determine their own projects. They also have the opportunity to voice their opinion on a wide range of topics including library services and resources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
