Catherine Woodyard<\/p><\/div>\n

OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Catherine Woodyard, University of Mississippi graduate student in health behavior and health promotion, has earned the title of Applied Sciences Student of the Month for November.<\/p>\n

Woodyard, who will be graduating May 2013, is completing her dissertation that addresses the individual and community health needs of the population in the Mississippi Delta.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She is currently an instructor for the university and a member of several national organizations such as the Society of Behavioral Medicine and the American Public Health Association.<\/p>\n

On winning the award, Woodyard attributes the honor to her hard work in community health to improve health and wellness of the community in the Delta.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels really good–humbling, because its nice to have recognition for hard work, considering my passion for health and the desire to see change in the health of the population,\u201d Woodyard said.<\/p>\n

Woodyard has garnered other awards such as the Graduate School Dissertation Fellowship, Who\u2019s Who, Phi Kappa Phi.\u00a0 She was a recipient of the Graduate Student Achievement Award and H. Leon Garrett Award in Health Promotion in 2010.\u00a0 A graduate of Lakeside High School in Hot Springs, Ark, she is the daughter of JoAnne Oliver and Gary Wright of Oxford and Howard and Betsy Woodyard in Little Rock, Ark.<\/p>\n
