\"\"<\/a>OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 The perils of menopause, including all the sleep problems, mood changes and night sweats, will be celebrated Tuesday (May 7) when the international hit show “Menopause the Musical” comes to the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Mississippi.<\/p>\n

Described as “fresh, funny and simply terrific” by the LA Times, “Menopause the Musical” is the funny story of four women making fun of their hot flashes, forgetfulness and chocolate binges.<\/p>\n

“This musical is a must-see,” said Kate Meacham, assistant director of the Ford Center. “It’s a hilarious celebration of that stage in every woman’s life.”<\/p>\n

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show range from $39 to $50 for various seating and can be purchased at http:\/\/www.fordcenter.org or by calling 662-915-7411. Retirees and UM faculty, staff and students get a 15 percent discount.<\/p>\n

The show is set in a department store, where four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra meet by chance at a lingerie sale. The all-female cast makes fun of not only their hot flashes, but of mood swings, wrinkles and much more. A sisterhood is created among these diverse women as they realize that menopause is no longer “The Silent Passage,” but rather a stage in every woman’s life that is perfectly normal.<\/p>\n

The 90-minute production also includes parodies of classics from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.<\/p>\n

Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, writer and producer Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of or have survived “the change.” “Menopause the Musical” is produced by GFour Productions and is the work of writer Jeanie Linders, director Seth Greenleaf and choreographer Daria Melendez.<\/p>\n
