OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 The darkly delirious world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Wednesday, Grandma, Pugsley and, of course, Lurch is coming to the University of Mississippi.<\/p>\n

The 2013-14 national tour of the new musical “The Addams Family,” based on the on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, stops by the <\/strong>Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts <\/a>at 8 p.m. June 2.<\/p>\n

Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune<\/a> described the production as “classic, full-tilt, fast-paced, old-fashioned musical comedy!”<\/p>\n

The glitzy and gloomy musical should be fun for the entire family, said Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director.<\/p>\n

“The Addams Family was a Broadway smash and musical hit,” Easterbrook said. “What better way to start the summer than with this wacky and strange family.”<\/p>\n

Tickets to the musical range from $55.50 \u00a0to $66.50 for various seating and available by visiting the UM Box Office in the Student Union or by calling 662-915-7411.<\/p>\n

“The Addams Family” musical features an original story that reflects every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness,\u00a0has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart\u00a0young man from a respectable family.\u00a0A man her parents have never met.\u00a0What’s more, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother.<\/p>\n

Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before: keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia.\u00a0Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for\u00a0Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.<\/p>\n

“The Addams Family” was created by “Jersey Boys” authors Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Drama Desk-winning composer\/lyricist Andrew Lippa. The production is directed by four-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Zaks\u00a0with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.\u00a0The North America\u00a0tour is produced by Phoenix Entertainment, Stephen B. Kane and Michael McFadden, by special arrangement with Theatrical Rights Worldwide.<\/p>\n
